Permeke Bibliotheek in Antwerp - Ground floor

Permeke Bibliotheek

Bibliotheek Permeke  intrance

As part of my relaxation, I always go and check some books, dvds, magazines, cd's or etc.  in this library. There are thousands of them across Belgium but Bibliotheek Permeke  is the main library of Antwerpen, Belgium.  It is strategically located, a reason where I can say, hats off to the government of Belgium. This library is architecturally design, beautiful, a big building with a groundfloor and first floor and to go to the first floor there is a lift or elevator too. It is modern, well lighted, lots of big colorful benches or couches, very cozy to sit on, you can even lie down if you like too because it is huge, but you know, it is not allowed. They make it so inviting that i'd like to stay the whole day reading or doing my stuff. You can have it for you alone, with approx. 100 visitors every 2- 4 hours, if not busy or you can share it with friends. It is well ventilated, colorful, the arrangement of everything is awesome, they put green plants too. Better to say, they make it really like a home for us who'd like to feel at home. You can indulge in your reading privately and enjoy it. You can choose which area you would like to stay because around it are tables, chairs and couches but it has also a separate space or rooms for students specially when they have exam or for anybody, who would like to concentrate reading their favorite stuffs. If you need space for meetings, presentations because i see also some displays of artists' works, informal meetings or debate you can contact them. You can see lots of books, cds, children's books, books about gardening, business, arts, music, videos, photography, hobbies, planting, making soups, cooking, sewing, language, business, languages, cartoons and everything one seeks under the sun so to speak. You can borrow some for one month, or for weeks and there is no charge. It is free! One only pays a small annual fee. You can only get a fine if you are beyond the expiration date. Never forget which day you borrowed it, the date you are going to return it, is to avoid paying a fee. One month is too long for my dvd's to stay at home so I return them immediately and I borrow another one. Here also,  I find some books for my Nederlands course. What I did not learn from school, I learn from here ( I will tell you about it when ill make a post about learning nederlands). One time, I could not find one of the dvds, so i asked about it and they told me that i can pay 30 euro for the lost dvd or I can buy a new one with the same title. Fortunately, I found it. The workers here are friendly and assist you if you need help. They facilitate children activities too. If you do not have computers at home, this is your place, just ask and you will be accommodated, you can use it for one hour.  Feeling hungry or thirsty do not worry,  there is a cafe outside the main entrance.  So far, this is my favorite bibliotheek. An additional plus is that it is accessible for cars (parking space), public transportation (tram, bus or train) and situated near the centre of the city.

Enjoy because the government of Belgium, always take care of the people.
